1 Some meaning of food cravings on 10th September 2009, 4:49 pm

I have recently read in a magazine some meaning of the cetain foods we crave:

Craving: Burgers and chips and takeways
Our bodies need: salt!


A healthier option to get salt is : sushi, deaweed and fish. (like sardines on toast)

Craving: crisps and bread
Our bodies need: Protein


A healthier option is meat, fish, chicken or eggs.

Craving: Chocolate
Our bodies need: Magnesium


A healthier option is nuts, seeds and wholegrain (although they probably wont taste as good as chocolate!)

Craving: Caffeine
Our bodies need: Iron


A healthier option is raw broccoli, dried fruit, like figs, apricots and liquorice.

i wish i could eat something healthier instead of burgers but after all I am American and sometimes I feel the need to inhale one ( not from Mcdonalds but rather homeade ) .. soooo good. i eat more when im bored or depressed.. but thats pretty common no?

a little of what you fancy is important mentally..so u don't feel deprived. the danger is in the grazing. if u have something naughty to eat just go ahead and eat it...don't spend your whole life going to the fridge for a sliver of chocolate every half an hour when eating a bar all at one is far more satisfying, u probably eat less chocolate in the end...and you reach that 'ugh I've had enough and don't want to see another bar for at least a week'.or at least that is thetheory!

Yes i eat when im depressed more than i normally do!

I also used to eat crisps and stuff like that when i was watching tv when i was younger! I was never really hungry it was just something to do while i watched tv! but luckily i got out of the pattern! bounce
