Frankly, anywhere in Italy is susceptible to quakes. It's part of the reason this country is so beautiful... millennia and millennia of tectonic and volcanic activity.
I think of all the Abruzzo girls here, I'm the closest to L'Aquila. The earthquake last year, and the subsequent tremors were really scary to me, I'm not used to quake territory! Life was pretty disrupted for awhile, and still is for those in the city.
However I have to look at it as we're "done", hopefully we wont have another like it in my lifetime. And sadly it takes a disaster to bring about changes to building code, response measure etc.
I wish there were such thing as somewhere impermeable to nature's wrath. I'd even though Arizona was pretty damn close to it, but the recent Baja quake proved me wrong.
