As apart of my new years resolutions i want to lose some weight and apart from doing the gym and the wii i want to start walking.

So if anyone is in Roma at any point and want to go for a walk, sightseeing or the zoo i am up for any of it if you want some company Very Happy

Or if anyone is also looking to lose some weight and has a bit of free/spare time maybe we could meet once a week for a few hours walk around!

Aww! I'd be up for it, but it's maybe a bit further than *either* of us wants to walk, from Salento to Roma. Wink

Yes that would be cool! but maybe we could bring the dinner to you this time or order pizza and we pay for it as you made us dinner last time, so its only fair as it would be our turn Very Happy we would have to see when we are all free as well Smile

Clare, I am up for walking and losing a few pounds, as god knows that in a few weeks with all this pasta and gelateri, which Im indulging in, means I am going to need to!

Here's my number if you want to sms/call as internet access is going to be a bit sketchy for me over the next few weeks.

Unfortunately with a toddler in tow it's not really the relaxing walk which one might envisage. It's also hard for me to get out on weekends with her nap times etc.

I will say though that I don't have a car and walk everywhere. All the Italians think we're nuts but I highly recommend it as a way to lose a few lbs or stay thin (also great for the environment and cars are expensive!) I eat like a pig including chocolate pretty much every day and wine but seem to stay at a stable weight and I'm sure it's because of all the walking. On weekdays I walk to and from work which is a half hour brisk walk each way. On weekends I walk to the park pushing the toddler in her pram and lots of other places.

IMO Rome is a walking city - at least the centralish parts are. Have fun - it should be really nice as spring arrives. sunny
