yeah i know what you mean, maybe this weather inspires the "hermit" in us.. at least for me... lately there has been soo much going on in Florence, internaional film festival , new oil and roasted chestnut festival and not to mention work hahaa ( but i half work from home which is nice..and distracting)

more about the trip.. leaving December 2nd.. so soon! weird feeling. its always mildly traumatic to go back to the states since by the end I am devoid of all energy and enthusiasm after numerous airplane changes and customs and immigration. Why i wasnt born in the EU is the bane of my existense when i have to fly bk and forth.. agh!

so the reasonim going home so early is for a wedding one of my good friends is having ( its so weird to me to have childhood friends all around my age (24-25) getting married or engaged ( i get that question alot in Tejas ).. i mean me and tommaso will get there but are in no rush.. boh.. i feel like back home people get into that settled life mentality too quickly when mayve im a little immature at heart and want to pursue selfish things like more education-travel- going out spontaneously.. boh..

so staying in america from the 2nd- 28th is kind of a long time ( but i will work from there as well , yay internet and skype! ) .. and i just booked a ticket to lo angeles for a week while im there which im psyched about.. im thinking.. good mexican food, walking around my old haunts,, visiting my old professors/ friends/ enjoying all the amazing things that LA has to offer.. which 9surprisingly ) is alot..

christmas with the fam is always an experience, my grandma on my dads side had 6 kids and on my moms spanish side ( they are in arizona ) they had 8! so you can just imagine how many cousins i have LOL. we have a very close family and everyone is really down to earth and funny.. im a lucky girl even if my mom is a little crazy ( she throws holy water when i come home and begs me and tommaso to come live with her.. ) heheh. .

i am looking forward to : crazy lattes : eggnogg from starbucks.. big breakfasts with eggs and pancakes, food that is not italian and for stores to be open late.. and friends who are young and actually successful so i can be reminded that youth can be a good thing.. lol..

Sounds FANTASTIC you are so lucky to have a home to get back to! I guess I am more reconciled to being here now that my family are all over the place and there is no fixed place for me to go back to...liek I was sayign to Katja, don't know where home is anymore...althoguh I guess I should say it is here where my kids are, but it still feels kinda temporary!
As for settling down...I didn't do it 'til I was nearly 30 and that was coz I got pregnant. I was always travelling and doing the education thing...that's how I came to be in Rome in the first place. But when I started my PhD I also got pregnant...so change of direction and priority... but I'm not sorry about it...just wish I'd done a couple of thigns differently 1. wish I done a teaching degree, 2. Wish I'd bought a house instead of spending all my money on travelling! Easy to be wise in hindsight my blog... Icon_biggrin
