Living in Lake Como

Hey, Im Joanna from London, living in Lake Como and working as a nanny until July 2010. I have been here 2 months now and love it but am looking for people to meet in my area as I am finding it very very lonely and would be nice to make some friends

What its like working as a Nanny? do you live with the family? do you plan to stay on in italy?

Erm...working as a nanny is one of the toughest jobs I have ever done (and I have had a few jobs) but I prefer it to working in an office in London. Its nice to be out of the rat race and enjoy where I am living. I live with the family, I have my own room and entrance so I get alot of privacy. The kids are great but definatly a handful and I have to speak only English to them so my Italian is incredibly poor. I have met a few other au pairs but they tend to be in Milan so its abit annoying as would be nice to meet someone after I finish for a drink. Otherwise I generally love Italy and am enjoying being here. Not sure if I will stay on when I finish next summer it all depends on how lazy I am with learning the language.

You could always find a family in one of the bigger cities

my italian isnt that good either i have enough to get by but i can be very lazy with learning it lol

I'm on Lake Garda so sorry I'm not closer, life is pretty quiet here too, even more so with a new born in tow!

Can you do me a favor and introduce me to any nanny/au pair contacts you have. I may need some help and would like to explore possibility of hiring a live in nanny/house help as I aslo have 3 dogs to contend with.
